Eric W. Brigham – United States Army

brighamColonel Eric W. Brigham graduated from Norwich University in 1988 and was commissioned as a 2LT In the US Army Chemical Corps.

After Officer Basic and Airborne School, COL Brigham was assigned to 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized), where he served in 4-68 Armor Battalion, 1-29 Field Artillery Battalion, 3-29 Field Artillery Battalion, and 31st Chemical Company.

After completing the Officer Advance course, COL Brigham served in the 6th Aviation Brigade in Alaska, and then Commanded HHC, 6th Infantry Division. After command he served as a plans officer for 6th Separate Infantry Brigade (Light).

COL Brigham was then assigned to the Army’s Personnel Command in Virginia as a Force Management Officer for Chemical, Engineers, and Military Intelligence branches. After a year in that assignment he was transferred to the Pentagon where he served in the Army G1 as an Operations Research Systems Analyst.

After promotion to Major, COL Brigham attended Command & General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth where he also earned a Master Degree from Central Michigan University.

Upon Graduation, COL Brigham served in the 25th Infantry Division (Light) in Hawaii. During his tour, he served as the Deputy G3, Chief of Exercise (DTAC), Brigade S3 for the Division Support Command, Battalion XO for 2-25 Forward Support Battalion, Divisional Chemical Officer, Chief of Plans for US Embassy Afghanistan, and G3 Chief of Operations.

After 5 years in Hawaii/Afghanistan, COL Brigham took command of the 83rd Chemical Battalion, 18th Airborne Corps, Fort Polk, Louisiana. During battalion command COL Brigham’s battalion supported Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

After Battalion Command, COL Brigham returned to Virginia as the Branch Chief in the Army’s Human Resource Command (HRC). COL Brigham then attended and graduated from the National Defense University, National War College, with a Master Degree in National Security Strategy.

After graduation, COL Brigham took command of the 48th Chemical Brigade at Fort Hood, Texas. The Brigade supported operations on nine installations across the United States, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom/New Dawn, and Eighth US Army, Korea. After his Brigade Command, COL Brigham was the Division Chief, J5, for the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization (JIEDDO) in Washington, DC.

Following his position at JIEDDO, COL Brigham served as Chief of Staff, Alaskan Command and Joint Task Force Alaska. His responsibilities within Alaskan Command, a sub-unified command under U.S. Pacific Command, included the integration of all military activities for more than 21,000 active-duty, Guard and Reserve members from all services in Alaska. COL Brigham also ensured Joint Task Force Alaska effectively plans and executes all Homeland Defense and civil support operations within Alaska on behalf of U.S. Northern Command.

COL Brigham’s awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal (DSSM), Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4 OLC), Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, State Department’s Meritorious Honor Award, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Army Staff Badge, and the Army’s Parachutist Badge.

COL Brigham is married to the former Vicki LaCroix and they have two daughters.
